In this webinar, we will define what preprints are, illustrate how their landscape has evolved over time especially during the current environment, profile their positive and negative characteristics, discuss metrics, outline publisher view points, and share tips for evaluating and citing. We hope that this webinar will help illuminate how preprints have contributed to and impacted scholarly publishing and walk you through the basic steps to contribute to this evolved landscape.

Learner Objectives: at the end of this session a participant should be able to:

  • Define what a preprint is
  • Locate preprints
  • Recognize the positive and negative perspectives of preprints
  • Understand how preprints fit within the scholarly publishing landscape
  • Determine whether to upload a preprint
